Construction of a vehicle overpass in Mexico

A new motorway viaduct is currently being built in the municipality of Chimalhuacán, in the eastern zone of the State of Mexico.

The structure of the vehicle overpass will consist of 11 spans with reinforced concrete decking with a total length of 394 m, and 2 access roads, 650m long each, and Reinforced Earth access embankments. The roadway will accommodate 6 lanes of traffic.

As main contractor, Freyssinet is involved in all the foundation, infrastructure and superstructure work for the main road and the two access roads:

  • Foundations: manufacturing and installation of 296 prestressed concrete piles of 60 x 60 cm, 39.85 m long each
  • Infrastructure: manufacturing and installation of columns and supporting walls, supply and installation of high damping elastomeric bearings and neoprene bearings
  • Superstructure: manufacturing and erection of AASHTO Type IV and Type VI beams, pouring of concrete slabs and trimmings; supply and installation of SFX 340 type expansion joints, laying of bonding and asphalt layers, manufacturing and erection of parapets, supply and installation of safety barriers, pouring and erection of access slabs, vertical and horizontal signage.

📆 Started in January 2021, the construction is expected to be completed in early 2023.
