New cable-stayed bridge in Bangkok: installation of cables to start soon!

The future bridge, called Rama III bridge, will be parallel to the stay cable Rama IX bridge built in 1987 over the Chao Phraya river. It is also a cable-stayed bridge with two H-shaped pylons, with a main span of 450 m and 152 stay cables of lengths ranging from 40.5 to 233.7 m.    

Freyssinet Thailand, together with Freyssinet Major Projects Department, design, supply and install the stay cable system -cables, anchorages, dampers- and will carry out the waterproofing and fatigue tests.

Our client also entrusted us with the supply and installation of monitoring equipment that will track the structural health of the bridge to optimise its future maintenance.

Behind the scenes at Freyssinet Products Company

The clevis anchorages for the Rama III bridge are being prepared just before they are shipped in November 2021. These anchorages are specially adapted to thin pylons and allow for easy adjustment of cable lengths after installation.

Freyssinet Products Company is the industrial division of Freyssinet that manufactures the most critical components of Freyssinet systems.
